ChatGPT Prompts to Help You Create Content That Doesn’t Suck
Struggling to come up with content ideas? You’re not alone. Whether you're a small business owner, marketer, or just trying to grow on social media, staring at a blank screen is frustrating.
That’s where ChatGPT can help…if you know what to ask. The problem is, most people don’t give it enough context. So we’ve put together a list of copy-and-paste ChatGPT prompts that we use inside our agency to create engaging content for ourselves and our clients.
Whether you need Instagram captions, video ideas, or just a creative kickstart , these prompts are designed to save you time and help you actually stand out online.
1. Turn Your Voice Into a Style Guide
Prompt:
"You are my personal content writer. Study this example post and extract the tone, style, and structure. Then use that voice to write 3 new Instagram captions about:
A common mistake [ideal audience] makes in [industry]
A quick tip they can implement today
A hot take or opinion about the state of the industry"
[Paste your best-performing post below the prompt]
Why this works: It gives ChatGPT a sample to model and guides it toward content that educates and entertains without losing your voice.
2. Get Hyper-Specific Testimonial Content
Prompt:
"Here's a testimonial from a happy client. Write three different Instagram captions for me:
A bold quote-style post pulling the most powerful line
A short story about the transformation this client had, written for [ideal audience]
A direct-response style caption that builds trust and encourages others to reach out"
[Paste testimonial here]
Why this works: Instead of just rewording the review, it builds out emotional hooks and turns social proof into an actual conversion tool.
3. Video Idea Machine for Your Niche
Prompt:
"Generate 10 short-form video ideas for a [type of business] that wants to attract [ideal audience]. Break the ideas into these categories:
Educational (things they need to know)
Myth-busting (things they get wrong)
Day-in-the-life (what your process looks like)
Opinion/controversial takes (something bold you believe about the industry)"
Why this works: It structures the ideas so you get a well-rounded content calendar , not 10 recycled “tips” that all feel the same.
4. Flip Frustrations Into Hooks
Prompt:
"List the top 5 frustrations [ideal audience] has with [industry or service]. Then write one short-form video hook and one tweet-length text post idea for each."
Example:
Frustration: “I don’t have time to create content”
Video hook: “If you’ve got 30 minutes a week, I’ll show you how to turn that into a month of content. Watch this.”
Text post: “Content creation doesn’t need to be a full-time job. Here’s how to batch like a pro in 30 minutes.”
Why this works: It creates relevance-first content that speaks directly to the pain points , content that grabs attention fast.
5. Audience POV Reversal Prompt
Prompt:
"Act like you’re a [ideal audience persona]. You’re tired of [common frustration], skeptical of [common promise], and just want [desired result].
What type of social media content would make you stop scrolling and think, ‘Finally, someone gets it’?
Answer with 3 video hook ideas, 2 carousel post titles, and 1 hard-hitting quote-style post."
Why this works: It forces ChatGPT to role-play the customer, which leads to much better content ideas than just telling it “make good posts.”
6. Emergency “I Forgot to Post” Backup Prompt
Prompt:
"Give me 5 simple but valuable post ideas I can throw together fast , things that show my personality and expertise as a [business type] without needing editing or design. Prioritize:
Strong opening lines
Value or insight
Minimal effort to produce today
Why this works: Because we’ve all had days like this , but this still lets you post something useful, not filler.
Wrap-Up
These are the kinds of prompts we actually use inside our agency. Not because AI is replacing anyone , but because it's a damn good brainstorming partner when you're on a deadline or just stuck.
Copy, paste, and tweak them for your brand, or steal them word-for-word. We won’t tell.
You don't need more “chatbot-sounding” content. You need sharper inputs. These will help.
If you still don’t want to deal with any of it , we get it. We’ll write, film, and post the stuff for you.
